Biography
My images are of the landscape and the environment, both urban and countryside. I admire the images of photographers who, through their wonderful pictures of the natural and unspoiled wilderness, might convince us that no one has ever been there before. However in my images there are often signs of human activity, though not often will you see a person and where you do they will frequently be anonymous, just another feature of the landscape. For me, evidence that people have passed through does not detract from the beauty of a place, it is like a trace fossil, or an echo. Even graffiti has a silent beauty to it.I am Liverpool born and bred, but have lived in Scotland since 1989. Both are home to me now, it is just a pity they are so far away from each other.
I hope you find something that you like here, please leave a note in the guestbook telling me whether you do or you do not. If you would like to use the images for any reason, please contact me by email at ajd@lightstory.co.uk, or by using the contact page on this site.
My photographs are taken on a variety of cameras: Nikon F90X, F3 and Contax G2 cameras with Fuji Provia film, and more recently with a Nikon D200. Film is digitised with a Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400 II scanner.
